Profile

I have been married to Walter for 45 years. We have two children. Catherine is a teacher who lives in Polokwane. Wayne is a project manager for a Cape Town company and is engaged to a lovely young lady, Anelle.

Walter is supportive of my crafting endeavours, either by being my critic or buying me "machines" to help me with my crafts.

I have a Cricut (cutting) machine which I just love as well as a Trouvaille and a Cuttlebug, both use dies to cut and emboss.

I started making cards seriously 18 months ago when I attended classes at Country Crafts with Hendrien Vosloo. More recently I have been invited to also give some classes.

Your comments on this blog will be most welcome.

DAUGHTER'S BIRTHDAY CARD

Both our children have their birthdays in the month of May one on the 29th and the other on the 31st - here is the one made for our daughter.

Front of card

Inside card

The heart stamp was a 'freebie'  which came with a Craft Stamper magazine and was embossed using white embossing powder.  The border, the fence and the cute flowers were cut using  Memory Box dies. The Tilda stamp was coloured using watercolour pencils.  The paper was from my 'stash' of bits and pieces.

40th BIRTHDAY

Our son Wayne, who lives in Cape Town, turned 40 on the 29th May which meant a trip to there for his Birthday Bash.  A good time was had by all - it was especially nice to see my sisters and brother as an added bonus.

The four of us together with Waynes fiance Anelle.

This is the birthday card that I made for Wayme.

The 40 was cut using the Cricut and then embossed, the stamp is from the Papermania Urban range and the Car is one of the Marianne design dies which is cut and then coloured with distress inks..  Have used buttons for embellishments and a bought luggage tag.  Paper is from my 'stash'.
BAMBI & THUMPER

Thumper cut on the cricut using the long mat
I can't believe that I have not updated the blog for such a long time!  Today the sky is blue and the sun is shining, but boy oh boy is the wind blowing - in fact it is howling and the day is really cold.

All three together (made 26 of the yellow boxes, but with Bambi pictures)

Thumper table decorations

Firstly had quite a big project on the go making decorations and party favours for a first birthday party - the theme being Bambi & Thumper.  There were one or two items on the internet that I used and then I also made small boxes with handles - Cricut Cartridges used were Tags, Bags, Boxes & More as well as Disney Classic.

Table decorations (made 2 of these & 2 with Thumper picture)

DRESSING TABLE CARD

Tuesday was card making class at Country Crafts.  This is such a nice shape card and lends itself to such a lot of pretty embellishments.

Card made in class

Card made at home

As you can see if I like a card then I usually make more than one.  The card made in class used paper from the Country Companions pack, but the second card was made using scraps (all bits and pieces are saved for 'just in case'). Embellisments are bits of lace, flat backed pearls, pearls on a string as well as charms with a few punched flowers and leaves. The lady on the mirror is from a set of stamps - sorry cannot remember the make. Thank you Ursula for a great class.

PINK FANTASY

The pattern for this card came from Hobbyjournaal 85.

The following materials were used:
Marianne design - From the Don & Daisy stamp sets and coloured in with watercolour pencils
Marianne dies for the white background, some of the large leaves and the cream spray
Patterned paper from a Wilson & Maclagen paper pack
Fern leaves - Joy die
Small leaves & flowers punched with Papermania punches
Butterflies (I think its a Carl punch) edged with pink chalk & highlighted with Stickles glitter glue
Roses are bought ones
STEPPER CARD

One of our daughter Catherine's friends is having a baby boy - so, here is the card I made for her.
Another 'drawer' type card.  Thanks to Colette Smith for the inspiration behind this card.

The Marianne 'Snoesjes' stamp, coloured in with watercolour pencils and placed on a Marianne die.  The Teddy Bears were cut with two different size punches and the hanger from the Cricut Cartridge 'Everyday Paper Dolls'.  Both the bow tie and shirt cut by hand.
